![]() Agren Appliance Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Norway StoreA ribbon cutting ceremony was held today at the new Agren Appliance & Television retail store at 313 Main Street in Norway. The ceremony included remarks by Agren Appliance President Jason Agren, Norway Downtown Board President Andrea Burns, Norway Town Manager David Holt, and Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce Executive Director John Williams. Agren Appliance relocated its South Paris store to Norway about one month ago. The Chamber of Commerce is extremely pleased that Agren has chosen downtown Norway for its expansion and we’re looking forward to helping this new location become a destination for local consumers and attract downtown shoppers through its attractive renovations,” said Williams. “In a challenged economy it is refreshing and encouraging to see a business actually expanding its retail and service operation in a community that is seeking stability and optimism.” Agren’s new Norway store has 25,000 square feet of showroom space on three levels and is more than three times larger than the former South Paris store. Norway is the first Agren location to carry living room and dining room furniture in addition to appliances, televisions and mattresses. Before moving in Agren hired several area contractors to renovate the historic building including Proctor Wood Floors, Bolsters Flooring, KT Electric and Richards Home Improvement. In addition, two full-time sales associates with ties to the area were hired. At the ribbon-cutting Jason Agren presented Reverend Richard Beal of the First Universalist Church with a new upright freezer for the Community Lunch Program. “On behalf of everyone at Agren, we commend Reverend and Mrs. Beal for their charity work in the Norway area,” stated Jason Agren. “For nearly 21 years the Community Lunch Program has provided meals to those in need, serving 7,681 meals in 2010 alone. The people of Norway have gone above and beyond to make our business feel welcome and this donation is one small gesture to give back to this great community.” Jason Agren also announced that Olympic Gold Medalist Seth Wescott will make an appearance at the Norway store’s Grand Opening Celebration on Sat., Jan. 22, to greet customers and sign autographs. “Agren Appliance is focused on providing outstanding service and involvement in the community and will bring energy and business to the heart of Norway's Main Street,” stated Andrea Burns. “Norway Downtown welcomes Agren as a partner in our Main Street's revitalization efforts.” Founded in 1969, family-owned and operated Agren Appliance & Television has retail stores in Auburn, Brunswick, Norway, South Portland and Waldoboro. Agren’s unique ‘No-Lose’ extended warranty adds four years parts and labor coverage to the manufacturer’s 1-year warranty and, if unused, its $149 purchase price is returned as an in-store credit. Agren’s fleet of service trucks is the largest in the state and its factory-trained technicians together have over a century of appliance repair experience.
