Mechanics Savings Bank Opens New Branch

Mechanics Savings Bank Opens New Branch

New Mechanics Savings Bank Branch to Open in Lewiston Jan. 2, 2009

In order to facilitate the move, the Lewiston branch and ATM will be closed all day on Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st. The construction of Mechanics Savings Bank’s new Lewiston branch located at 664 Main Street, is nearly complete and scheduled to open on January 2, 2009. The construction project began last April and since that time, the branch has been operating from a temporary facility onsite.

The new Lewiston Mechanics Savings Bank branch will be more than 50% larger than the former facility that was constructed in 1973. The new building will include an additional drive-up service window, a freestanding drive-up ATM, a larger lobby, and a conference room for customer meetings. In addition, the parking area will be expanded.

In order to accommodate the move to the new building, Lewiston operations as well as the ATM will shut down at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, and re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2.  The Lewiston branch and the drive-up ATM will be closed all day Wednesday, December 31, and Thursday, January 1.

During the closure on Dec. 31, customers may visit the 100 Minot Avenue Office in Auburn or the 3 Drive-In Lane office in Windham to conduct full service banking.  As always, customers can access their accounts and cash, surcharge-free, at Mechanics Savings ATMs along with any Bank of America and Key Bank ATMs.

“We certainly appreciate our customers’ patience over the past nine months while we operated out of our temporary offices,” stated Mechanics Savings Bank President and CEO Rick Vail.  “We believe that our new and expanded branch will enhance our customers’ experience for years to come.”

Architect Nathaniel Salfas of Gardiner, Maine, designed the new facility and R&R Construction, Inc. of Lewiston served as general contractor for the project.

Founded in 1875, Mechanics Savings Bank currently serves customers from three branch offices located in Auburn, Lewiston, and Windham, Maine. Mechanics Savings Bank has assets of $260 million and participates in a surcharge-free ATM network that includes approximately 17,000 ATM locations nationwide.
