![]() Rinck Receives Two W3 Awards for Gorton's Interactive Web SiteRinck Advertising was recently selected by the International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA) as a 2008 W3 Awards Winner in two categories for design and execution of the Gorton’s Seafoods website. Rinck was honored with a Gold Award in the category of Food and Beverage and with a Silver Award in the category of Best Visual Appeal. The W3 Awards honors outstanding Websites, Web Marketing, and Web Video created by the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators across the globe. The 2008 W3 Awards received more than 3,000 entries from top companies and agencies worldwide. “I could not be more proud of the creative team who built this amazing website. The site first and foremost supports the brand iconography of Gorton’s. In August 2007, Gorton’s, the nation’s leading frozen seafood brand, engaged Rinck Advertising as its lead interactive agency to develop a new web site. The Rinck creative team sought out a design that would better showcase Gorton’s expanding variety of products, and to engage the consumer with the company’s well-known marketing icon, the Gorton’s Fisherman, and their equally well-known tag line, “Trust the Gorton’s Fisherman.” “We saw this as an opportunity to re-introduce consumers to one of the greatest marketing icons of all time,” said Laura Davis, Vice President of Rinck Advertising. “The Gorton’s Fisherman truly represents New England’s traditional fishing industry. What we aimed to do with the site was to add a rich back-story to the familiar bearded, yellow slicker wearing fisherman and to show a glimpse of Gloucester that has informed this brand for more than 150 years.” The web site opens with an animated introduction of the Gorton’s Fisherman featuring still photography shot on location. Special features include a Fisherman’s Log that begins to reveal the back-story of the icon through log entries. In the site’s “Glimpse of Gloucester” section, consumers are invited to take a virtual tour of Gloucester, Mass., one of the oldest fishing ports in the country and Gorton’s home for over a century and a half. The site’s upgraded functionality includes a re-designed recipe section that allows consumers to rate recipes as well as to save favorite ones in a personal recipe box. Online newsletters and downloadable coupons are also available. “We were amazed at the caliber and quality of work received this year.
