McDonald's Reopens in New Location

![]() McDonald's® Returns to Main Street, Bangor In StyleOn June 26, the 14-year-old McDonald’s restaurant at 466 Main Street closed to relocate to a brand new restaurant at 427 Main St.The next generation style of McDonald's® restaurants opened its doors at 427 Main Street in Bangor on Thurs., July 8, with a ribbon-cutting and flag raising ceremony by members of the Bangor VFW honor guard. In addition, donations were made to the Bangor Recreation Department and the Maine Discovery Museum to provide area children with scholarships to each of the organizations’ summer programs. Dignitaries in attendance included city officials, members of the Chamber of Commerce and state legislators. The ceremony kicked off a month-long grand opening celebration that will feature events, give-aways and special appearances (schedule is attached). “On behalf of the Eckmann family, we are very pleased to have been a part of the Bangor/Brewer business community for 27 years,” stated Owner/Operator Gary Eckmann. “We look forward to welcoming all of our former customers - and new ones, as well - to our new, modern restaurant conveniently located along the gateway to downtown Bangor.”Reflecting McDonald’s newest restaurant style, the Forever Young motif, the restaurant offers customers seating for 73, a gas-fire fireplace, free wi-fi and a McCafé®. Exterior features include a tandem drive-thru for faster service, a larger parking lot and beautiful landscaping. The McCafé offers favorite coffee choices, such as cappuccinos, mochas, and lattes produced from freshly roasted espresso. This summer, the newest offerings from the McCafé beverage line include ice blended Frappés and Real Fruit Smoothies. McDonald’s Owner/Operators Gary and Marty Eckmann of Bangor have personalized the restaurant’s interior design with photographic installations featuring family members, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine® as well as historic memorabilia from Miller’s Restaurant, formerly located next to the site of the new McDonald’s. With a respect for the environment, the Eckmanns have incorporated several energy saving components such as hand dryers that use 80% less energy, an energy efficient HVAC system, and an energy management system for more efficient refrigeration, lighting, and heating throughout the restaurant. A number of local and Maine businesses executed the majority of the interior and exterior construction work including Hughes Bros., Inc. of Hampden; Hahnel Bros. Roofing of Bangor; Allenfarm Fence of Hermon; Bangor Wholesale Laminates of Bangor; Greenworks Landscaping of Bangor; Shyka, Sheppard & Garster of Bangor; Bangor Acoustical Ceiling of Old Town; Kennebec Drywall of Clinton; Kilbreth, Inc. of Topsham; Ed Hodson Masonry of North Monmouth; and North Atlantic Tile of Surry. Merrill Merchants Bank of Bangor facilitated the Financing. Local suppliers included Hammond Lumber of Bangor. Grand Opening Give-aways Through August 2 In celebration of the grand opening, the new McDonald’s will be holding weekly drawings on Mondays for give-aways that include a bicycle, camping gear, an outdoor grill, patio furniture, one year of Big Macs®, one year of Frappés, one year of Egg McMuffins® and a Frankie the Fish wall hanging. Drawings will be held on Mondays at 4PM on July 12, 19 and 26 and Aug. 2. Customers must be 18 years or older to win and can enter to win as often as they like. Complete rules are available at the restaurant. The new Bangor McDonald’s located at 427 Main Street is open from 5AM to midnight weekdays and the drive-thru is open until 2AM on weekends. Owned and operated by Gary and Marty Eckmann, the new McDonald’s restaurant incorporates the latest features rolling out nationally, including the McCafe® featuring premium coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos as well as faster service at a tandem drive thru. In addition to the new “Forever Young” restaurant design, McDonald’s is continually looking at ways to meet the changing needs and tastes of its customers by offering a variety of new menu choices such as Premium Salads, Premium Chicken sandwiches such as the Southern Style Chicken Sandwich, Snack Wraps™, Fruit n’ Yogurt Parfaits™, Apple Dippers and Fruit n’ Walnut salads™.
