McDonald's Holds Special Event at Portland Location

![]() The Portland, Maine McDonald’s located at 332 St. John Street recently opened its kitchen to media and invited guests giving them a first-hand look at operations behind the counter. McDonald’s Owner/Operators Scott, Edie and George Lydick accompanied guests who checked out the fresh products in the refrigerator and observed as McDonald’s favorites such as the Egg McMuffin® were prepared. Guests were also offered the opportunity to make their own Egg McMuffins.
President of Newman’s Own® Organics: The Second Generation was on-site talking with guests about Newman’s Own Organics coffee roasted by Green Mountain Coffee® of Waterbury, Vermont. Since 2005, the exclusive blend has been sold only at McDonald’s restaurants in New England and the Albany, New York area. Ms. Newman spoke about how she started Newman’s Own Organics and its organic coffee line. She also expressed that she is very happy to be back in Maine where she attended the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor.
Guests at the McDonald’s Open Door Tour included state legislators, business leaders, Portland and South Portland city officials, as well as representatives for U.S. Senator Susan Collins and U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe. Also present were representatives from the Ronald McDonald House® of Portland and Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine. Over the past 20 years, RMHC of Maine has granted more than $1.5 million to local children’s programs that have made a measurable impact in our communities. The Ronald McDonald House of Portland located at 250 Brackett Street, provides affordable, safe and supportive temporary housing to families of seriously ill children who are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals and medical facilities. Patrick Thibodeau of Cumberland and Josh Titus of Auburn represented the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games now in its 21st year. Thibodeau and Titus received the 2009 “Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game” award and received national attention for their abilities to overcome obstacles and inspire their teammates and coaches.
